Kolkata, Sept. 24 -- Amitabh Chakraborty has been reappointed as the state general secretary (organisation) of BJP in West Bengal.
Political observers said the central leadership reposed faith in Chakraborty's organisational experience.
He was among the architects of the BJP's Assembly poll victory and has served as Bengal's general secretary since Dilip Ghosh's tenure as state president.
BJP national president Nitin Nabin on Thursday announced 24 organisational appointments across states and regions.
The party said the appointments would come into effect immediately. Ahead of civic body polls, the BJP on Wednesday announced Sunil Bansal as the 'Prabhari' for West Bengal, while Lal Singh Arya, Rajendra Singh and Pinki Kushwaha have been appointed as 'Sah Prabhari'.
To strengthen the organisation across the state ahead of the civic polls and the Nandigram and Rejinagar bypolls, the BJP recently formed a 263-member state executive committee, giving Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari organisational responsibility for Tamluk. Nandigram falls under the Tamluk organisational district.
