Greater Noida, Sept. 25 -- Union Home minister Amit Shah on Friday said that Uttar Pradesh was coming up as a big investment and manufacturing hub and was confident that it would achieve its target of a USD 1 trillion economy.
The home minister was addressing the gathering on the occasion of inauguration of the fourth edition of Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show (UPITS) in Greater Noida in the presence of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and other dignitaries.
Shah said that the trade show was being held on the 12th anniversary of 'Make in India' initiative launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 25, 2014.
He said that this initiative had laid a strong foundation for India to emerge as a global production, design and innovation hub.
The Home minister said that Uttar Pradesh had plenty of land, water, skilled artisans and a positive industrial environment conducive to investments which would
help the state to achieve its goal of a USD 1 trillion economy.
Refering to the previous editions of UPITS, Shah said that first edition depicted the transformation that Uttar Pradesh was undergoing, the second one generated investment intent and the third one brought the investors on board and now the fourth edition was going to usher in partnerships to take the state to a USD 1 trillion economy.
Shah said that the 2025 trade fair witnessed more than five lakh visitors, over 2,400 MoUs were signed and thousands of crores of investment commitments were made.
He was confident that the 2026 edition of UPITS would see these numbers crossed.
On defence manufacturing, he said that Uttar Pradesh was becoming a key player in this segment with six nodes of defence corridor in Jhansi, Chitrakoot, Lucknow, Agra, Aligarh and Kanpur.
