Gurugram, Oct. 4 -- Gurugram Police have arrested 10 people in four cases for allegedly bringing garbage and plastic waste from Delhi for dumping in the city, officials said on Sunday.
The action followed Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini's direction on Saturday to impound vehicles transporting garbage from Delhi. Saini said Gurugram would not be allowed to become "Delhi's dumping ground".
Police also recovered seven vehicles, including canters and tractor-trolleys, allegedly used in the offences.
As part of a special drive, two cases were registered at Bajghera police station and one each at Udyog Vihar and Rajendra Park police stations. Police said teams intercepted the vehicles during checking and naka-bandi at various locations.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused were allegedly operating through a network connected with Delhi. The plastic was separated and segregated before being allegedly transported to other places.
Police said they were probing the network and the possible involvement of other persons and vehicle owners. Further action will be taken if their involvement is established, an officer said.
