Kolkata, Oct. 14 -- Mamata Trinamool national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee on Wednesday accused the BJP of protecting CEC Gyanesh Kumar, claiming that his arrest could expose several influential individuals allegedly involved in electoral irregularities.
Speaking after emerging from Shakespeare Sarani P.S., Banerjee demanded Kumar's resignation and criminal accountability.
"Gyanesh Kumar is being protected by the BJP, and the BJP wants to save him at any cost," Banerjee said, alleging that several individuals, including Manoj Agarwal and Subrata Gupta, could face scrutiny if the CEC is held accountable.
