New Delhi, May 15 -- The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Friday expressed concern over the Rs 3 per litre hike in petrol and diesel prices, saying rising fuel costs and economic pressures were affecting common people.

Addressing a press conference, AAP Delhi president Saurabh Bharadwaj said the increase could add to household burdens and raised concerns over inflation, unemployment and the country's economic situation.

He said the government should place the economic situation before the public and added that fuel prices may continue to fluctuate depending on global developments.

Responding to the remarks, Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor said fuel prices were linked to international crude oil trends and global economic factors.
