New Delhi, Sept. 3 -- Delhi Mayor Pravesh Wahi on Thursday accused Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) councillors of disrupting the election to the Ad Hoc Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Implementation of Scheduled Castes Candidates Quota Committee, alleging that they created a ruckus and behaved indecently with the Presiding Officer.
According to the Mayor's office, the election process commenced at the scheduled time, following which AAP councillors allegedly entered the venue and attempted to obstruct the proceedings. Wahi said the AAP had not nominated a candidate for the election and questioned its decision to disrupt the process.
"Democracy gives everyone the right to dissent and protest, but creating a ruckus, insulting the Presiding Officer and forcibly preventing a constitutional process cannot be considered a democratic right," he said. The Mayor also
alleged that AAP councillors subsequently entered his office and damaged doors and chairs.
