
Raiganj, Sept. 30 -- Tension spread among residents after numerous Aadhaar cards, post office passbooks, Ayushman cards and other important documents were found scattered on a road near Shaktinagar railgate in Ward 13 of Islampur Municipality in North Dinajpur district on Wednesday afternoon.
A postal department bag was also found at the spot, prompting residents to suspect that the documents might have been discarded there. On receiving the information, police from Islampur police district immediately reached the spot and launched an investigation into the incident.
Arun Das, a local resident, said: "In the afternoon, we found numerous Aadhaar cards, post office passbooks, Ayushman cards and other important documents scattered on the roadside. Some local residents saw a youth, apparently a plastic picker, dropping the documents from a large bag." According to local residents, most of the documents belonged to people living within the Islampur police station area. They expressed concern over the exposure of sensitive personal information and demanded that police identify the person responsible for leaving the documents on the roadside.
