New Delhi, Sept. 27 -- The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) organised a plantation drive at Central Government Employees' F Block RWA in Moti Bagh on Sunday as part of its 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign, marking the 43rd consecutive Sunday of the initiative.
NDMC Vice-Chairperson Kuljeet Singh Chahal, along with residents, RWA representatives and civic officials, participated in the drive. Residents planted saplings in honour of their mothers and pledged to protect and nurture them.
Before the plantation activity, Chahal and residents listened to the 138th episode of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's
'Mann Ki Baat'.
Chahal said plantation should not end with planting a sapling, stressing the need for regular watering, nourishment and protection to ensure its growth into a healthy tree. He also said sustained public participation was essential for creating greener neighbourhoods and protecting the environment.
A separate plantation programme was held at Atal Adarsh School Primary, Moti Bagh. During the visit, the school principal raised issues related to building repairs, whitewashing, monkey menace and sewerage.
Chahal directed officials to inspect the issues and take necessary action within the stipulated timeframe, stressing direct engagement with residents and addressing grassroots concerns for responsive civic governance.
