India, Aug. 4 -- Polling for the constitution of 23 Town Vending Committees (TVCs) across all 12 zones of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) concluded peacefully, with approximately 41 per cent of the nearly 90,000 registered voters exercising their franchise, according to the civic body. Polling began at 8 a.m. at designated polling stations across the zones. The elections were conducted under the Street Vendors (Protection of Livelihood and Regulation of Street Vending) Act, 2014 and the Delhi Street Vendors Rules, 2017. The polling process was conducted under the supervision of MCD Chief Election Officer and Additional Commissioner Sanjeev Mittal, along with officials from the Central Licensing Department, zonal administrations and Returning Officers. Zonal control rooms monitored polling and voter turnout on an hourly basis to ensure the smooth conduct of the process. Counting on August 4 The MCD has established 15 strong rooms and 17 counting centres for the election. Counting of votes will begin at 8 am on August 4 at the notified counting centres. The Corporation said no untoward incident or law-and-order issue was reported from any polling station during the day. The MCD thanked officials and agencies for conducting the polls, saying the exercise would strengthen street vendors' representation and participatory civic governance.
