Bhopal, Oct. 6 -- Madhya Pradesh will observe 2027 as the 'Year of Youth', with the state government announcing a series of initiatives focused on education, skill development, employment, research and entrepreneurship, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said at the CM Youth Conclave-2026 here on Tuesday.
Addressing the conclave, Yadav announced that the Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC) would conduct two examinations in 2027 instead of one. The government will also establish 12 new medical colleges and 12 universities offering employment-oriented courses, while one lakh youths will be covered under skill-development programmes.
A dedicated portal for the Year of Youth will be launched to invite ideas and suggestions from young people, with the government considering suitable proposals for implementation. Free coaching for competitive examinations will also be provided in government colleges across all districts.
The Chief Minister further announced that a special agency would be engaged to improve campus placements and connect students with employment opportunities. Postgraduate female students will also be brought under the ambit of the Gaon Ki Beti and Pratibha Kiran schemes.
All government colleges will get advanced Artificial Intelligence and advanced computing laboratories, while monthly assistance for research scholars in higher education will be increased from Rs 16,000 to Rs 25,000. A Rs 5-crore state-level 'Idea Fund' will be created to encourage youth start-up ideas. Emphasising technology and innovation, Yadav said the state was emerging beyond its traditional agriculture-based identity, with progress in industry, IT, medical education and innovation. He said 85,000 youths had been provided government jobs across departments and stressed the government's aim of making young people job creators rather than job seekers.
The Chief Minister also announced 500 new National Service Scheme units and hostels for working women in every division. He said the Global Investors Summit would again be organised in 2027, creating additional employment opportunities. During an interaction with students, Yadav highlighted initiatives in agriculture, AI, start-ups and sports. He said Bhopal is developing AI and Knowledge City, while a Science City is coming up in Ujjain. Sports, he added, would receive special priority during the Year of Youth.
The conclave also featured cultural performances, along with exhibitions and interactive stalls on mental health, yoga, career guidance, skill development, Indian knowledge traditions, and entrepreneurship.
