Kolkata, Oct. 9 -- After West Bengal Chief Secretary Manoj Agarwal sent a defamation notice to Mamata All India Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra, demanding Rs 10 crore in damages, the MP took to her social handle X on Friday night to question why he was seeking the amount.
Moitra had made the remarks while referring to his activities as Chief Electoral officer of West Bengal in charge of SIR and state Assembly polls. Agarwal sent the defamation notice to Mahua for describing him as a "vote chor" in a recent post and for "illegally" taking away the "voting rights of millions".
Agarwal demanded that the MP issue a public apology on social media, keep it pinned on her profile, and immediately take down the two allegedly derogatory posts.
