Kolkata, Oct. 7 -- West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, joined by several Cabinet ministers, launched the 'Seva Jyoti Yatra', marking PM Modi's 25 years in public service.
Adhikari lit the ceremonial lamp to flag off the nationwide campaign in Bengal and, along with his ministers, took a pledge to build a fully developed West
Bengal by 2047, in step with the Narendra Modi government's 'Viksit Bharat' vision.
All the ministers and BJP leaders present at the stadium listened to Modi's virtual address to the nation. Modi addressed the 'Viksit Bharat Sankalp Sabha' and led a collective pledge to create 'Viksit Bharat @ 2047'.
Chief Minister Adhikari, during his short speech at Netaji Indoor, said: "'Seva Jyoti' was lit, and the programmes were being carried out in all districts of West Bengal. West Bengal would contribute to transforming India into a developed nation."
State BJP president Samik Bhattacharya took part in the 'Seva Jyoti Yatra' in North Bengal. He also listened to Modi's speech there. He told reporters: "The programme was observed in all districts across the country. Modi finally said that he is completely dedicated towards the well-being of the country."
He again said that West Bengal is likely to be renamed "Paschim Banga". He claimed that the proposed name would preserve the state's historical identity. Bhattacharya earlier said that, if the BJP formed the government in the state, it would introduce a Bill in the first session of the Assembly to formally effect the name change.
