
Agartala, July 9 -- Tripura is expected to attract investments worth more than Rs 1 lakh crore in the near future, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha announced while inaugurating the two-day business conclave, "Destination Tripura," in Agartala on Thursday.
Addressing delegates from across India and abroad, Dr. Saha invited investors to explore the state's vast business potential. He highlighted the government's investor-friendly policies and various incentives aimed at promoting industrial growth, while extending a warm welcome to entrepreneurs and business leaders.
Union Minister for the Development of the North Eastern Region, Jyotiraditya Scindia, addressed the gathering virtually. He elaborated on the Government of India's Act East Policy and the Ashta Lakshmi initiative envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, emphasizing the importance of increased investment in the North East.
Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal also encouraged greater industrial investment in the region. Both Union Ministers expressed satisfaction with Tripura's development and its growing potential as an investment destination.
More than 1,200 industrial delegates are participating in the "Destination Tripura" conclave, which was inaugurated by the Chief Minister in the presence of members of his Cabinet and senior government officials.
Speaking at the inaugural session, Dr. Saha highlighted Tripura's strengths, describing it as a resource-rich, power-surplus state with abundant natural gas, bamboo, pineapples, and other agricultural resources.
He also noted that the state now enjoys improved connectivity through enhanced road, rail, and air infrastructure.The Chief Minister described Tripura as the gateway to South Asia, citing its strategic geographical location and expanding connectivity as major advantages for investors.
Among those present at the inaugural ceremony were Ratan Lal Nath, Minister for Power and Agriculture; Pranajit Singha Roy, Finance Minister; Santana Chakma, Industries Minister; and Kishor Barman, Education Minister.
Several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were signed during the event with leading business groups, including ITC, Taj, Techni India Group, and other prominent companies, reflecting strong investor interest in the state.
