Kolkata, Sept. 21 -- State Irrigation and Waterways minister Arup Kumar Das said that he has already started operating from the Writers Building. The work which is underway at the Writers' Building is expected to be completed by October 10.
Amid the speculations that the Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari may soon shift his office to the Writers' Building before Durga puja, Das said that it has not yet been discussed as to when the Chief Minister will shift his office from Nabanna to the Writers' Building. Das also stated that he is already sitting at the Writers' 2-3 days in a week.
"The Chief Minister had earlier stated that he will shift his office to Writers' Building. It is not, however, sure when he will shift his office to Writers. Sources said that the state public works department will finish a major portion of its ongoing restoration work of Writers' Buildings before Mahalaya.
PWD minister Ajay Kumar Poddar visited the buildings several times in the past few days and issued instructions for completion of work by October 9. Poddar had recently said as of now, the second floor will have rooms for the Chief Minister and five of his cabinet ministers.
There will be three rooms for the CM's secretariat, one dedicated to the CM and two others for his security and other state officials, who will be accompanying him. Urban development and municipal affairs minister Agnimitra Paul, health minister Sharadwat Mukherjee, panchayats and rural development minister, Dilip Ghosh, and tourism and parliamentary affairs minister, Shankar Ghosh and also the PWD minister will sit at Writers' Building.
