Kolkata, July 8 -- The police encounter in which Baruipur rape-murder accused Prabhas Mondal was killed sparked a political storm in West Bengal.
While the Trinamool Congress termed it "jungle law" and a "staged drama", the BJP defended the police action as "divine justice". Congress and the CPI(M) also questioned the police's version, saying encounters cannot replace the rule of law.
