Visibility stays above minimum at Kuching Airport despite haze, only AirBorneo flights cancelled
KUCHING, Sept. 1 -- Operations at Kuching International Airport (KIA) remained largely unaffected despite worsening haze conditions, with only two flights cancelled as visibility in parts of Sarawak deteriorated.
KIA senior manager Jun Iskandar Murshidi said the cancelled flights were the Kuching-Mukah and Kuching-Tanjung Manis services, both operated by AirBorneo Airways.
The Kuching-Mukah flight involved 24 passengers, while five passengers were booked on the Kuching-Tanjung Manis service.
"As at 4.25pm, two flights were cancelled," he said when contacted on Tuesday.
He said visibility at both Runway 07 and Runway 25 was recorded at 2,000 metres, well above the airport's minimum visibility requirement of 800 metres.
