MIRI, Aug. 31 -- The shooting case involving a 17-year-old teenager in Long Lidong, Lawas, has been resolved with the arrest of a suspect on August 25, said Lawas district police chief DSP Liong Tindan.

Liong said following the arrest of the suspect, the police also recovered a homemade firearm, locally known as a 'bakakuk', believed to have been used in the incident.

"The firearm was found hidden at a hut not far from the suspect's home. It had been placed on the ground and covered with a zinc sheet," he said in a statement.

Police received a report on August 16 after the teenager was injured by a gunshot while cleaning a water catchment area about 1km from his home, he said.
