KOTA KINABALU, Sept. 15 -- The state government has called off the state-level Malaysia Day celebrations at Padang Merdeka tomorrow night in view of the widespread disaster crisis brought about by continuous rain affecting at least seven districts in Sabah.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor informed the Head of State Tun Musa Aman about the decision today.

"The state government's immediate priority is to manage the crisis, coordinate recovery efforts and ensure timely rescue operations for affected communities.

"In this time of difficulty, the well-being, welfare and security of the people are of utmost importance. We must direct all focus and resources to those affected," he said.
