KUALA LUMPUR, Oct. 31 -- The Jelutong Landfill Site (TPSJ), which has accepted construction and demolition waste and excavated soil for more than 40 years, will cease operations from November 30.

The Penang Island City Council (MBPP) said the closure is to allow rehabilitation work at the site.

From December 1, those disposing of construction debris or excavated soil are advised to use the Integrated Solid Waste Management Centre (ISWMC) in Ampang Jajar, Central Seberang Perai (SPT).

MBPP said the disposal fee is RM15 per metric ton for permitted waste generators or transporters.
