KAPIT, June 28 -- Once classified as a "dilapidated school", SK Kampung Baru at Jalan Suhaili here is now completed under Sarawak's RM1 billion Phase 1 Rebuild of Dilapidated Schools programme and set to officially open this July 8.

The school was previously listed as a "sick project" due to construction delays.

During a visit by Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Openg, he was briefed by JKR Sarawak director Datuk Cassidy Morris that the project, which began in 2020 at a cost of RM12.84 million, was completed with the intervention of a rescue contractor appointed by the Public Works Department (JKR) Sarawak.
