MIRI, June 28 -- The Total Defence (Hanruh) concept must be understood and embraced by every segment of Malaysian society, as safeguarding national security and sovereignty is not the sole responsibility of the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM), the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) or enforcement agencies alone.

According to Sarawak Transport Minister Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin, the concept requires the involvement of the entire population through a 'Whole of Government, Whole of Society' (WoGoS) approach.

He said the approach must continue to be strengthened in view of Malaysia facing increasingly complex security challenges including cyber threats, the spread of false information, cross-border crime, smuggling, human trafficking, maritime threats...
