MIRI, April 1 -- Malaysian vehicle owners are advised to fill before entering Brunei, as its government will require all foreign vehicles to have at least three-quarters of a tank of fuel starting April 1.

Brunei's Department of Energy (DOE) said the move is aimed at safeguarding the nation's petroleum supply amid geopolitical developments in the Middle East since late February 2026.

"All foreign-registered vehicles entering Brunei Darussalam will be required to maintain a minimum fuel level of three-quarter tank upon entry.

"Foreign vehicles that do not comply with this requirement will not be allowed to enter Brunei Darussalam," the statement said.

However, official government vehicles are exempted from this requirement.
