KUCHING, Aug. 25 -- Repair works have been carried out at Kuching International Airport (KIA) following damage to part of its external ceiling structure caused by severe weather on Tuesday.

Malaysia Airports, in an update posted on its official Facebook page, said the affected area had been secured to allow the repair works to be carried out safely.

"Repair works at KIA are underway on the section of the external ceiling structure affected by the severe weather earlier today (Tuesday)," it said.

It added that airport operations were continuing as normal.

"We appreciate the patience and cooperation of passengers and airport users while these works are being completed," Malaysia Airports said.
