GEORGE TOWN, Oct. 22 -- A man and his female companion were killed after their motorcycle was struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run crash along the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway near the Penang Bridge interchange early this morning.

Timur Laut District Police chief ACP Abdul Rozak Muhammad said initial investigations found that the crash occurred at about 4 am as the 22-year-old man and 20-year-old woman were travelling from George Town towards Penang Bridge.

"Upon reaching the junction leading to Penang Bridge and Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), their motorcycle was believed to have been hit from behind by an unidentified vehicle.

"Both victims, from Padang Serai, Kedah, died at the scene," he said in a statement today.
