KUALA LUMPUR, Nov. 8 -- A 23-year-old man has reportedly been left RM9,000 poorer after a steamy video chat with a woman he met online turned into a nightmare blackmail plot.

The victim, who met the woman on the dating app Tantan, thought he'd found a romantic connection when they moved their chats to WeChat. But things quickly took a darker turn.

According to Berita Harian, Gombak district police chief Assistant Commissioner Noor Ariffin Mohamad Nasir saidthe woman suggested a video call - and convinced the man to strip during the intimate session.

Soon after, the flirtation soured. The woman began sending threatening WhatsApp messages, warning she would leak his nude video unless he paid up.
