Sri Lanka, Sept. 28 -- Sri Lanka has travelled a considerable distance from the economic catastrophe of 2022. Growth has returned, inflation has been brought under control for much of the period, foreign-exchange reserves have recovered, the banking system has strengthened, and debt restructuring is largely complete. The latest IMF assessment in September 2026 confirms this progress.

Yet the conclusion of the IMF's September mission without a Staff-Level Agreement raises a more important question than whether the Seventh Review will eventually be completed.
