Lucknow, May 7 -- The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet has approved a proposal to provide enhanced compensation to farmers for land falling under high-tension power transmission towers and overhead transmission lines.

Announcing the decision after a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Energy Minister Arvind Kumar Sharma said farmers will now receive 200 percent compensation for land under transmission tower bases and 30 percent of land value for areas affected by overhead power lines.

The revised compensation policy will apply to land impacted by 765 kV, 400 kV, 220 kV and 132 kV high-tension transmission lines passing through agricultural fields, reported PTI.
