New Delhi, July 3 -- The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has introduced a facility allowing Aadhaar holders to add or update their email ID through the Aadhaar App without visiting an Aadhaar enrolment centre, as part of efforts to improve digital service delivery.

The free service became available on July 1, 2026, and will remain available for six months through the Aadhaar App. The move is intended to make Aadhaar updates more convenient by enabling users to complete the process from their smartphones.

According to UIDAI, more than 2.5 lakh email updates were recorded within the first two days of the service's launch.
