New Delhi, March 19 -- Tamil Nadu has emerged as Indias leading textile exporter, recording shipments worth USD 7,997.17 million in FY 2024 25, marking a 29.12 percent increase over the past four years, according to official data.
Textile exports from the state rose from USD 6,193 million in 2020 21, reflecting steady growth driven by policy support and sectoral expansion, reported The Economic Times.
Chief Minister M K Stalin said the state has outpaced key competitors like Gujarat and Maharashtra to secure the top position in textile exports.
He noted that Tamil Nadu now accounts for 21.84 percent of Indias total textile exports, highlighting its strong manufacturing base and export competitiveness.
