New Delhi, Oct. 10 -- Taiwanese semiconductor giantMediaTekhas expressed openness to manufacturing its chips in India once the country develops sufficient fabrication capabilities.

The move aligns with India's growing efforts to establish a strong domestic semiconductor industry and reduce reliance on imports.

MediaTek, which supplies chipsets to leading smartphone brands likeXiaomi, Samsung, Oppo, and Vivo, currently follows afabless model-designing chips and software while outsourcing production to global foundries such asTSMC, Intel Foundry Services,andGlobalFoundries.
