New Delhi, May 12 -- The Ministry of Mines has launched the second tranche of e-auction of limestone blocks in Jammu & Kashmir at Srinagar, marking a fresh step towards expanding mineral development and attracting investment in the Union Territory.

A total of 12 limestone blocks located across Anantnag, Rajouri and Poonch districts have been put up for auction under Tranche II. The blocks include both newly identified mines and those being re-auctioned under a second attempt process.

Addressing the launch event, Secretary, Ministry of Mines, Piyush Goyal said the government has undertaken several reforms to simplify procedures, improve transparency and enhance ease of doing business in the mining sector.
