New Delhi, Aug. 31 -- Renewable energy accounted for nearly 20 per cent of India's total power generation in July 2026, reflecting the country's growing shift towards cleaner energy sources.

According to Grid India data, India generated 1,81,790 MW of electricity during the month, of which 36,355 MW came from solar, wind and biomass-based renewable sources.

This represented 19.9 per cent of total generation, up from 16.9 per cent in July 2025.

Renewable Generation Rises Over 30 percent

Renewable power generation increased by more than 30 per cent year-on-year, rising from 27,835 MW in July 2025 to 36,355 MW in July 2026.
