New Delhi, April 7 -- Indian Railways has approved multiple infrastructure projects worth Rs 1,364.45 crore aimed at strengthening safety, signalling and communication systems across its network, with a focus on expanding Kavach deployment and modernising railway operations.
The approved works include installation of anti-collision system Kavach on locomotives, expansion of optical fibre communication networks and replacement of conventional signalling systems with advanced electronic interlocking.
The projects form part of the umbrella work titled "Provision of Kavach with communication backbone of Long Term Evolution (LTE) on balance routes of Indian Railways (Umbrella Work 2024-25)", which has an overall sanctioned cost of Rs 27,693 ...
