New Delhi, Feb. 13 -- The Parliament has approved the Industrial Relations Code (Amendment) Bill, 2026, seeking to provide greater legal clarity on labour-related matters. The legislation was passed in both Houses by voice vote.

Replying to the discussion in the Lok Sabha, Labour and Employment Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said the four labour codes, rolled out nearly three months ago, mandate minimum wages and make the issuance of appointment letters compulsory. He also stated that the codes guarantee equal pay for equal work, regardless of gender.
