Chandigarh, Sept. 14 -- The National Lok Adalat held at the Punjab and Haryana High Court on Saturday disposed of 388 cases through mutual settlement, awarding a total of Rs 17.87 crore to the parties.

The Lok Adalat was organised as part of the nationwide initiative of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) in coordination with the High Court Legal Services Committee. A total of 723 cases were listed before eight Lok Adalat benches, with most of the settled matters involving Motor Accident Claims.

Justice Suvir Sehgal, Chairman, High Court Legal Services Committee, supervised the proceedings.
