New Delhi, July 20 -- MSMEs face challenges in adopting ESG and decarbonisation practices due to gaps in emissions data, monitoring systems, technical expertise and access to finance, experts said at a conference organised by FISME, Mahindra University and Friends of MSMEs in Parliament.

Speaking at the event titled "Global Shocks, Local Stakes: MSMEs at the Crossroads of Trade and Transition", panellists said decarbonisation can also help MSMEs improve energy efficiency and reduce operational costs.

The discussions highlighted the need for blended finance, credit guarantees, technical assistance and stronger verification systems to support MSMEs in meeting sustainability requirements and accessing green finance.
