New Delhi, Aug. 18 -- India is focusing onmature-node semiconductor manufacturing, particularly in the 28 nm to 65 nm range, instead of competing in the advanced 5 nm and 3 nm segment.

This strategy is aimed at industries such as automotive, telecom, industrial electronics, consumer goods, and medical technology, where demand for these chips continues to remain strong.

Experts note that this approach mirrors the early growth phases of Taiwan and South Korea, which built strong semiconductor industries by starting with mature technologies.

For India, this pathway creates opportunities to fill a critical gap in the global chip supply chain while leveraging its expanding talent pool and system integration expertise.
