New Delhi, Aug. 21 -- India aims to capture 10 percent of the projected global demand for green hydrogen, which is expected to exceed 100 million metric tonnes (MMT) by 2030, Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy Shripad Naik said on Tuesday.

He noted that the country's ambition is to position itself as a major producer and exporter of green hydrogen.

Speaking at the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) Green Hydrogen Summit 2025, Naik emphasised that achieving this goal would require advancements in certification and trading mechanisms, assured offtake arrangements, and access to green finance through instruments such as viability gap funding, green bonds and multilateral bank support.
