India's GDP Likely To Reach USD 5.1 Trillion By 2028-29: Finance Minister
New Delhi, Aug. 5 -- India's GDP at current prices is projected to reach around USD 5.1 trillion by 2028-29, crossing the USD 5-trillion mark in FY29, according to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said in the Rajya Sabha.
In a written reply, Sitharaman cited the IMF's April 2026 World Economic Outlook database and said the government has adopted a broad-based strategy to support economic growth.
The strategy focuses on boosting agricultural productivity, manufacturing and MSMEs, infrastructure, logistics, ease of doing business, innovation, digitalisation, human capital and energy security.
