New Delhi, Aug. 1 -- India's crude oil import bill rose 61 percent year-on-year to a record USD 49.66 billion in the first quarter of FY27, as supply disruptions linked to the West Asia conflict pushed crude prices higher, according to provisional data from the Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell (PPAC).

Crude Import Bill Hits Record USD 49.66 Billion

India imported around 60.48 million tonnes (MT) of crude oil during April-June 2026, with the import bill rising 32 percent compared with Q1 FY25, reported Businessline.

The Q1 FY27 import bill is the highest recorded for the April-June period in US dollar terms. India had imported a similar volume of crude in Q1 FY23, but the bill stood at around USD 47.88 billion.
