New Delhi, Sept. 8 -- India is embarking on an ambitious journey to become a global player in semiconductor manufacturing by targeting the production of advanced 7-nanometer (nm) chips within the next five to seven years.
This roadmap, outlined by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), aims to secure cutting-edge technologies and design expertise.
The initiative marks a significant escalation of India's semiconductor goals. Currently, the Tata Group is setting up the nation's first wafer fabrication plant with an investment of approximately Rs 91,000 crore (around USD 11 billion), which will initially produce chips at the 28 nm node and above.
