New Delhi, Feb. 14 -- The government has approved the export of 25 lakh metric tonnes (LMT) of wheat and an additional 5 LMT of wheat products following a review of domestic availability and price trends.
The decision aims to stabilise markets while ensuring remunerative returns to farmers.
Private wheat stocks in 2025-26 are estimated at around 75 LMT, about 32 LMT higher than the same period last year. Stocks in the central pool with the Food Corporation of India are projected at nearly 182 LMT as on April 1, 2026. The government said the export clearance will not affect domestic food security.
