New Delhi, Sept. 9 -- Electric vehicle (EV) retail sales in India rose 52.9 per cent year-on-year (YoY) to 2,98,448 units in August 2026, taking overall EV penetration to 12.3 per cent from 9.5 per cent a year ago, according to the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA).

FADA President Sai Giridhar said, "August 2026 was the biggest-ever August for electric mobility in India... Remarkably, every one of the four EV categories set fresh August records - there was not a single category that did not," PTI reported.
