Digital Finance, Credit Gaps Limit Women's Participation In Platform Economy: ILO-NCAER
New Delhi, Aug. 25 -- Despite near gender parity in basic bank-account ownership, women continue to lag men in digital financial skills and credit access, limiting their participation in India's growing platform economy, according to an ILO-NCAER brief.
The report said digital financial inclusion is crucial for women's access to platform work across ride-hailing, delivery, e-commerce, quick commerce and logistics, reported the Mint.
India's platform workforce grew from 77 lakh in 2020 to 1.2 crore in FY25 and is projected to reach 2.35 crore by 2029-30, but women remain under-represented, accounting for less than 1 per cent of urban two-wheeler delivery drivers.
