New Delhi, Aug. 6 -- Bhubaneswari Opencast Project (OCP) of Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) produced 26.477 million tonnes of coal in FY 2025-26, exceeding its Annual Action Plan target of 25 million tonnes by achieving 105.98 per cent of the target. The mine has a peak rated capacity of 30 million tonnes per annum (MTPA).

Since commencing operations, the project has produced 370.4 million tonnes of coal. For FY 2026-27, the production target has been increased to 28 million tonnes, with the mine producing 7.62 million tonnes during the first quarter.

The project uses surface miner technology for coal extraction, with drilling and blasting limited to overburden removal. It is also equipped with a 25 MTPA First Mile Connectivity (FMC) ...
