Afghanistan, May 20 -- Xi Jinping warned Wednesday that the Gulf region stands at a "critical point between war and peace" as he met Vladimir Putin in Beijing for talks focused on regional security and expanding strategic cooperation.
According to China's state news agency Xinhua, Xi said all hostile actions in the Middle East should stop immediately and stressed the importance of continuing diplomatic negotiations to prevent a wider regional conflict.
Xi said a rapid end to the conflict would help stabilize global energy supplies, industrial chains and international trade, warning that prolonged instability could disrupt the global economy.
