Afghanistan, March 4 -- The World Food Programme warned that escalating violence along Afghanistan's eastern, southern and western borders has further worsened the country's humanitarian crisis.

In a message issued on Wednesday, the agency said Afghanistan is facing one of the world's most severe food crises amid ongoing insecurity and displacement.

John Aylieff, the WFP representative in Afghanistan, said clashes have erupted in areas where residents were already living in critical conditions.
