Afghanistan, Sept. 25 -- Washington is reviewing its Afghanistan policy to prioritize security, prevent extremist resurgence, ensure humanitarian aid reaches civilians, and safeguard women's rights, U.S. officials confirmed.

The State Department officials raised alarm about the condition of women and girls in Afghanistan, accusing the Taliban of systematic rights violations. They cited restrictions during earthquake relief operations, where women aid workers were blocked, leading to what they called "tragic and avoidable deaths."
