Afghanistan, July 18 -- Venezuela's earthquake death toll has surpassed 5,000, authorities said, as thousands remain injured or displaced nearly a month after the disaster.
The death toll from last month's devastating earthquakes in Venezuela has risen to more than 5,000, authorities said on Friday, as emergency response teams continue relief operations and thousands of survivors remain without permanent shelter.
Jorge Rodriguez, president of Venezuela's National Assembly, said in a post on X that 5,060 people have been confirmed dead following the twin earthquakes that struck the country on June 24. He said another 16,740 people were injured, according to the latest official figures.
