Afghanistan, March 29 -- The United States has deployed the USS Tripoli to the CENTCOM region as military tensions rise and diplomacy struggles across the Middle East.
The US Central Command (CENTCOM) said the amphibious assault ship USS Tripoli has entered its area of responsibility, bringing with it about 3,500 Marines as Washington boosts its military posture in the region.
In a statement, CENTCOM said the warship is part of an amphibious ready group equipped with transport aircraft, strike fighters and a range of military assets. The ship, which is forward-deployed from Japan, is designed to support rapid-response and combat operations.
